Syria remains one of the largest and most protracted humanitarian crises in the world. Fourteen years of conflict have forced more than 13 million people to flee their homes, including 7.4 million internally displaced people. In 2026, an estimated 15.6 million people in Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance, while the health and education systems, along with other essential services, remain severely damaged and fragmented.
Vulnerable communities in Syria face multiple overlapping challenges. Ongoing insecurity and economic collapse make it extremely difficult to access affordable basic goods and services, while access to safe housing, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities remain limited. As a result, many families rely heavily on humanitarian support to meet their essential needs and begin to rebuild their lives.
