Syria remains one of the largest and most protracted humanitarian crises in the world. Fourteen years of conflict have forced more than 13 million people to flee their homes, including 7.4 million internally displaced people. An estimated 16.5 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, while healthcare, education, and other essential services have largely collapsed. Poverty is widespread, and millions of families struggle daily to access food, clean water, and basic goods.
Refugees and vulnerable communities in Syria face many challenges. Ongoing conflict, economic collapse, and insecurity make it extremely difficult to afford basic goods and services, while access to safe housing, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities is severely limited. As a result, many families rely heavily on humanitarian support to meet their essential needs and begin to rebuild their lives.
Estonian Refugee Council has been working in Syria since 2025, supporting crisis-affected people with urgently needed emergency assistance. Additionally, ERC has been supporting Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.
